10 Tips For Building A Successful Podcast

Launching a successful podcast requires more than just recording and uploading episodes. Many podcasts fail to gain traction and reach their target audience, leaving business owners wondering what went wrong.

1. Use The ‘Other People’s Audience’ Strategy
Other People ‘s Audience (OPA) is the fastest strategy to build your podcast and an audience. Invest in a beautiful video version of the podcast, chop the video into short 30-second highlights clips and tag your guest. They will share it and their followers will begin to follow you and the podcast. PRO TIP: invest in a professional production company that knows how to materialize your goals and accompany them with an artistic and quality vision that attracts online crowds.

2. Add Short-Form Videos To Engage The Audience
Play around viral moments and short-form videos. Short, snackable videos can go viral on TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels (among other platforms) and can be the catalyst for long-term success.

3. Release Episodes Regularly
At NOP we work together with our clients in integral productions where each day is used to the maximum. at least half of the season occurs that day to give continuity to the podcast and to ensure that engagement is not lost. don’t leave the audience intrigued for long!

4. Be Relatable and memorable
Don’t be afraid of intimate conversations and disruptive topics. in most cases it is what helps and inspires the audience the most. Originality is an essential attribute and difficult to achieve with so much published content. If you have ideas that break the mold, don’t waste them and, on the contrary, create valuable content through them.

5. Be Flexible Enough To Consider New Ideas
Do not be afraid of mistakes when finding your niche or themes that best match your preferences and the algorithm, be aware of the errors, try differently and move on. with perseverance it can be achieved

6. Quality-Quality-Quality
It is much more relevant than the quantity. From the creation of the scripts, the coordination, the recording and the post production edition are just as important. Our role as a professional producer is precisely to accelerate and coordinate all these processes so that there is a professional product that shows your audience serenity and reflects the passion with which you imagined your podcast project.

7. Promote Your Podcast
Once you have your project, it is very important that people know that it currently exists and is available when you want to enjoy it. social media, experiences and community building are crucial to 360 marketing strategy

8. Keep The Episode Length Concise And Entertaining
It is key to keep the audience’s attention active throughout the episode, especially if it is a multitasking audience. potential “ten minutes masterpieces” will keep the interest and the desire to listen constant

9. Select A Niche That Aligns With Your Capabilities And Interests
What are your interests and what topics make you constantly curious to investigate and create content around them carefully are questions that are correct to ask at the beginning. let’s avoid burn out and focus on transmitting your best qualities and talents that come naturally to you easily

10. Make Sure Podcast Guests Are Prepared
A podcast can only be successful when its guests are set up for success. If it makes sense, share questions ahead of time or share a loose outline to guide the conversation so the guest can be prepared with really valuable commentary. Provide them with materials for cross-promotion and make sure all parties are on board with the marketing plan. Overall, ensuring your guest has all the resources they need before coming onto your podcast will improve the chances of them being more relaxed, more trusting and more able to give you great content.

SABRINA MAUAS

My name is Sabrina Mauas and I am the founder of No Ordinary People, a media producing agency based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Our aim is to give brands a unique voice through Podcasts. I am also the creator and voice behind the homonymous Podcast where I interview extraordinary women from completely different fields. Women who have been empowered by their life experiences and that despite some really difficult moments have managed to come out with great lemonade.

I have a degree in International Relations from UTDT (Torcuato Di Tella University), and I started my career in communication when I started working at Ámbito Financiero newspaper. After four years of intense adrenaline, I took over as Press Manager at the Embassy of Israel in Argentina. Those were four years of growth until I decided to launch myself into a new world, an unknown but much desired dimension. I´ve moved to Italy to do a Master in Fashion and Communication at the IED in Milan.

From there it seemed natural to receive an invitation to write as a correspondent for Women’s Wear Daily and from New York to work in a communications agency.

Back in Argentina after a brief stint in consulting, I received an invitation to create the CRM (Customer Relationship Management) area for the clothing brand Jazmín Chebar. It was a lovely and very enriching experience that brought me to want to unite the power of knowing your audience and the ability to communicate things that foster a unique bond.

That is how the media producing agency was born and its first published project; No Ordinary People (NOP for friends). As a result of this project, Spotify invited me to participate in the WERK IT Festival, in October 2019, in Los Angeles. Those were intense days that encouraged me to continue creating content to share!

Among them, two podcasts for Spotify in partnership with the production company Sense Of Wonder from Argentina and Eclectic from Los Angeles. Manual para Niños Inquietos (Manual for Restless Kids) and Mi loco Profesor de Ingles (My Crazy English Teacher) are podcasts designed for children between the ages of 6 and 10. Both projects were also produced in Portuguese.

The last few years have been of enormous professional growth having been called by companies such as Red Link, Merk Sharp & Dohme, YPF, Prüne and Maria Cher for the production of their podcasts – branded and for internal use.

I was also honored to be invited by the Ministry of Culture of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires to organize the first Argentine Podcast Festival, BA Podcast, which took place in September 2021 and brought together more than 100 regional and international podcasters.
